Dating – A Game of Percentages

May 17, 2010 Posted Under: Dating   Read More

When it comes to dating everyone has a percentage, a percentage of how far they are willing to go to get someone. There are some girls that only are willing to go 10%, whether that is because there are plenty of guys going 90% that they don’t need to go more than 10% or if they are more old fashioned and feel that the guy should do all the pursuing. Either way they are 10% girls and there is not much that can be done about it. Then there are guys that are 60% guys. These are the guys that are not maybe comfortable in their own skin or have been hurt going 70% or 80% in the past so they have settled on a safe 60%.

There is no right or wrong percentage as long as you are happy with the girls or guys that are meeting you at your percentage. If you are not meeting people you are attracted to, it might be that you have a percentage shortage problem. This is when you don’t meet the person at the percentage they are comfortable. If your are a 10% girl but all the guys that are going 90% are not your type, maybe they are too cocky or conceded, well then you will need to increase your percent so that you can meet some 80% guys and see if they are more your type. Or if you are a 60% guy and always seem to be attracted to the 10% girls, you will need to grow a pair and be willing to go 90% to get that 10% girl.

Now if you fall into the stalker category, you might be going a little overboard with your percentages. If you are going 100% and still not getting any love…hate to break it to you, she/he is just not that interested in you.

Many people don’t understand this concept and even fewer know how to read a person well enough to meet them at their percentage. As you all know, there is this thing in dating called “The Game” and a part of that “Game” is to play hard to get. Trying to meet the person at their percentage without going overboard is the basics to “The Game”. Dating is a game of percentages!

Disclaimer: Whenever I talk about dating in a general way, I always feel I need to remind everyone that everyone is a little bit different and unfortunately there are no hard fast rules in dating.

Lost in Decisions?

“I witness that as you gain experience and success in being guided by the Spirit, your confidence in the impressions you feel can become more certain than your dependence on what you see or hear.” – Richard G. Scott

Imagine if you were lost in the wilderness. You have nothing but a compass and you know that the nearest city is 50 miles north of your current location. What would you do? Would you ignore the compass and try to hear the sounds of the city? would you try to see the city? No you would rely on the most powerful tool that you have been given, the compass.

How often do we ignore the Holy Ghost when we are lost in the decisions of this life?

I recommend this talk to all those struggling to find answers to questions in their life.

The Game Must Go On!

playing in the rain

I don’t know what it is about playing sports in the rain, but I sure do feel like a man when I do. I wonder if its because I’m sticking it to the elements. I’m telling something much greater than I am that I will not run from the storm. Or maybe it reminds me of when you I was young and my mom was so fed up with having all the kids in the house driving her insane that she let us take our chances with catching a cold or being struck by lightning. Whatever the reason I do feel AWESOME after playing ultimate frisbee in the rain.

Rain, Snow, Hail, come what may, but the game must go on!!

Google Reader, My New Surfboard

My new Surfboard

Last month I wrote about how difficult it is to ride the information wave and keep up on all the information I find relevant, funny, and interesting on the web. I related it to riding a wave in the ocean and trying to swim to keep up with it.  Well a good friend Bags introduce Google Reader to me and it has become my surfboard for surfing the net. Google Reader is an RSS feed reader. I first tried it out on a few of the blogs I check daily and within a few weeks I found myself able to subscribe to more blogs. Here is a trend of my last 30 days, I’m able to look at around 150 posts a day to find the stuff that is interesting, fun, and share-worthy.

Trend
Google has done a great job of being able to sift through a lot of information and keep the information you want and then share it with a click of a button. I can share it on my Google Reader feed or I can send it to my Facebook or Twitter account (this is new functionality they released this week).  People then can subscribe to my Google reader feed and see what I thought was cool or interesting as I searched the web that day or my friends can see the stuff I shared on Facebook or Twitter.  Also as I’m wandering around the web and I find something I like, I can click a bookmarklet and share it on my feed. My new surfboard has made discovering,  consuming, and sharing information fun and easy. I would recommend you give it a try, just start following me and you will start to feel the need to feed!

So now I don’t have to use my blog to share stuff and will dedicate my blog posts to my life and my ideas. If you are interested in following my reader here is the link.

Expired Coupon Rush

Expired Coupon

In a down economy we all are trying to save a few bucks here and there, but have you ever tried using expired coupons…Let me tell you it is a rush :-)

So I went to Carl’s Jr. with a friend for lunch. We had a coupon that we knew was expired, but thought we would try to use it anyway. The girl at the counter took the coupon and started reading it, I then quickly asked her about a special burger to distract her from looking at the expiration date. Then as I continued to keep her attention on my question, I handed her my card and asked for two cups of water. My sweet skills distracted her just long enough and We got a free six dollar guacamole burger (which is really yummy and I recommend you trying one next time you are at Carl’s Jr.) . As I walked away, I felt my adrenaline pumping and felt that satisfaction you get when you know you stuck it to the man! Don’t feel too bad for Carl’s Jr., they definitely made a profit even after the coupon.

So next time you need a rush or just want to save a few bucks go give this a try and I promise you will thank me later.
